Notice of Filing for Candidates for School Board
New Prague Area Schools will be part of the General Election ballot on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. At the election, four members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four years each.
Candidate filing will begin on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, and shall close on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Affidavits of Candidacy will be available from the school district clerk at 410 Central Ave No, in New Prague. A filing fee of $2 will be charged.
A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the general election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election.
The affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the filing fee paid prior to 5:00 o'clock p.m. on August 13, 2024.

About School Board Elections
The New Prague School Board has seven members who are elected at-large, to four-year terms. Elections for school board members are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November in even-numbered years. The next election will be November 5, 2024.
A candidate for the school board must meet the following qualifications:
- Be at least 21-years-old at the time the term of office begins
- Have resided in the school district for 30 days prior to the election
- Be an eligible voter, which includes the requirement that the individual be a citizen of the United States
Affidavits of candidacy are available from the district’s Central Education Campus at 410 Central Avenue N, New Prague. The candidate filing period is open from July 30, 2024 to August 13, 2024. The filing fee for this office is $2. A candidate for school board must not have any other affidavit on file for any other elected office during the same general election.
Individuals must meet the following requirements to vote in a school board or other special election:
- Be at least 18-years-old
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of the school district and maintain residence in the district for 20 days immediately preceding the election
