Mentorship Cycle
Each observation of a non-tenured teacher will consist of four components:
- Pre-conference meeting with Mentor Coordinator to preview lesson and what elements of the rubric will be reviewed
- Observation of classroom
- Post-conference meeting with Mentor Coordinator to review lesson and observation notes
- Coaching session to plan for growth in areas of development
The following three-year cycle will be used in setting meetings and observations:
Year One
Meeting 1: (September)
- Seminar 1: Danielson Framewook, Domain 2: The Classroom Environment
- Getting to know you
- Identify Instructional and Personal Growth Goals
- Informal Classroom Drop-in
Meeting 2: (October/November)
- First observation
- PGG Goal Review
- Meet with Mentor Coordinator on building/PLC goals
Meeting 3: (January/February)
- Seminar 2: Danielson Framework
- 2nd observation
- Meet with Mentor Coordinator on building/PLC goals
Meeting 4: (April/May)
- Reflection Seminar
- Final PGG Goal Review
- Share ideas for next year's goal
Year Two
(Early Fall)
- Identify Instructional and Personal Growth Goals based on previous year's goal, progress, and achievement
- Informal Classroom Drop-in
(Semester 1)
- First observation
- PGG Goal Progress Review
- Meet with Mentor Coordinator on building/PLC goals
(Semester 2)
- PGG Goal progress
- 2nd observation
- Meet with Mentor Coordinator on building/PLC goals
(March)
- Seminar: Danielson Framework
- Final PGG Goal Review
- Share ideas for next year's goal
Year Three
(Semester 1)
- Identify Instructional and Personal Growth Goals Based on previous year's goal, progress, and achievement
- Observation
